So...How's Your Love LIfe?...

What do you love? Who do you love? What grabs your attention? What are you passionate about? If God isn’t at the top of the list, then everything you do will be filled with regret. Yet I hold this against you: you have forsaken your first love. Remember the height from which you have fallen! Repent & do the things you did first. – Revelation 2:4-5. Paul had once commended the church at Ephesus for its love for God & others (Eph 1:15,) but many of the church founders had died & many of the second-generation believers had lost their zeal for God. They were a busy church…the member did much to benefit themselves & the community…but they were acting out of the wrong motives. Work for God must be motivated by the love of God or it won’t last. In the first steps of your Christian life, you may have had enthusiasm without knowledge. Do you now have knowledge without enthusiasm? Both are necessary if we are to keep love for God intense & untarnished (Hebrews 10:32, 35.) Do you love God with the same fervor as when you were a new Christian? Do you have the same “fire?” Or do we need to ask God to send the fire again? Send the fire again, we want to know Your Mighty power, change our generation, send the Spirit once again, like a great awakening, send the fire again. If God isn’t at the top of the list, then what is?...

Do we love money? (1 Timothy 6:10, 2 Timothy 3:2.) Do we measure success by material gain? Do we strive for material riches more than spiritual riches? Do you compromise God’s principles, for financial gain or to avoid financial loss? Are you discontent with what you have & always wanting more?

Do you love yourself? (2 Timothy 3:2.) Do you feel as though you are always the center of attention? Do you get upset when others take the focus off of you? Are you reluctant to sacrifice for others when it involves discomfort for you? Do you want to do everything your way?

Do you love pleasure? (2 Timothy 3:4.) Do you have time for hobbies while neglecting God’s Word? Do you go to church dinners but not prayer meetings? Do you enjoy TV, music, movies, sports, etc. but get bored listening to sermons? Do you get upset when church “goes long” because it interferes with your plans?

Do you love the world? ( 2 Timothy 4:10.) Are you more concerned about how you look to others than to God? Do you focus more on your earthly future than living in the light of eternity? Are you more interested in current events than in talking about the Lord? Do you spend your off time doing things that will be meaningless in eternity?

So…how’s your love life?...
